🔧 QR Code Generator (Wi-Fi, Text, URL)¶
This guide will walk you through creating a QR code which when scanned from a phone will give the option to join to your Wi-Fi.
It's a great way to share your guest Wi-Fi with people without needing to share a long name and password!
You can also create a QR code which spells out some words in text, or links to a URL, or even a vcard (contact information)!
The WLED firmware on your device will allow you to call these presets in automations or make buttons to control them on your Home Assistant dashboard!
1. Fill in the SSID (your Wi-FI name) and your Wi-FI password then click Generate QR Code and finally click Download.
2. Now get the QR code onto the matrix.
Drop the downloaded PNG straight into the Pixel Forge Image Tool, size it to your display, and save. It converts and stores it for you.
Convert the image to a GIF with an online tool first, then upload it to WLED.
Keep QR codes chunky
A 64x64 panel is not many pixels. Short payloads scan reliably, long ones (a full vCard, a long URL) often will not. Test with your phone before you save it as a preset.
